Narinder studied law in England, where he obtained an LLB (Hons) from the University of Leicester and then gained admission as a Barrister-at-Law of Lincoln’s Inn in London in November 1991.
He practiced as an advocate and solicitor in Singapore until 1997 and then gained admission as a Barrister and Solicitor in Western Australia and the High Court of Australia in 2000. He also undertook and obtained a graduate diploma in management at the University of Western Australia’s Graduate School of Management.
Starting off his legal career in insurance and commercial litigation in Singapore, Narinder acted for a major insurance company principally defending personal injury claims. He appeared in all levels of the court hierarchy and had conduct of two full trials and numerous damages assessment hearings. He also regularly acted in personal injury, matrimonial and commercial litigation disputes. He enlisted in a pro bono programme and provided his time and representation in criminal matters.
Staying in litigation on admission In Western Australia, Narinder continued to act in various commercial disputes principally in the Magistrates Court and Supreme Court with regular appearances in the Federal Court on bankruptcy matters and the Industrial Relations Commission.
Narinder’s interest in property and commercial non-litigious matters grew with his increasing exposure to commercial drafting and property transactions.
Joining CS Legal in 2003, his exposure to commercial and property work grew significantly. He delved deeper into his study of the property law regime in Western Australia and developed precedents and capabilities in various commercial and property transactions including leasing and licensing, property development, off-the-plan property sales, partnerships and joint ventures, commercial and private lending arrangements and securities.
Prior to the GFC and the winding down of the lending market, Narinder headed the finance team of CS Legal, which prepared security documentation for financial institutions such as GE, Macquarie and Challenger. This role required intimate familiarity with banking policies and consumer credit legislation.
Narinder manages and supervises the solicitors and paralegals at CS Legal. His approach is grounded on common sense and commercially practical outcomes.
